Our school's in person classes will be conducted in First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury. If you feel you can come attend the classes, we welcome students from all towns.

Classes at Kalaimagal Tamil School begin in September for every academic year Classes are offered on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
Currently, classes are offered only on Saturdays at 8:30 AM.
Registration for all (both new & currently enrolled) students usually opens up in June End/July Beginning for the upcoming academic year.
Kalaimagal Tamil School has an annual tuition of $175 per student due upon registration for the academic year 2024-2025.

If you choose to pay via PayPal you need to pay separately for each child. We don't offer sibling discount since the fee is already priced right. If you need financial assistance for school fees, please reach to us.
The annual tuition covers the church rental fee, ITA web portal, student textbooks, exercise / activity books & handwriting books, classroom supplies and administrative expenses. Please note that all teachers and administrative staff of Kalaimagal Tamil School are volunteers only and are not paid from the school for any of their services rendered.
Yes, you can cancel your registration before the school year starts in September. Any fees paid will be refunded back to you (after deducting appropriate processing fee).
We have experienced teachers who volunteer to teach. Almost all of them are KTS parents with a passion for teaching Tamil. If you are interested in volunteering as a teacher, please contact us via email or phone.
We offer classes from Preschool to Grade 12. Children can start at any age.
New student assessment will be done prior to the start of every academic year in September and children will be assigned appropriately in grades. This is to avoid redundant learning and to ensure continued development of their linguistic skills to thrive. In particular, if your child has completed a certain level in CTA (California Tamil Academy), we will follow CTA practice and conduct a quick student assessment to assign the student to the right level.
Yes, we do (as long as they are 3 years or older by Aug 31st). In the case of older kids, they will be evaluated and placed in a level where they are appropriately challenged. There are intermediate levels in CTA which may be suitable for older kids who want to learn Tamil (since the older kids can pick up at a faster pace, they may be placed at an intermediate beginner level).
Yes. We organize social and cultural events to imbibe Tamilian legacy. These are done by the students, for the students.
Kalaimagal Tamil School does not recommend students starting in the middle of the year. However, some exceptions may apply. Please email for details.
KTS will do its best to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee placement. Other factors will be considered.
We want to ensure that each child is in proper learning environment. Promotion to the next level is based on the teacher’s recommendations. Proficiency is the key determining factor.
